Jammy yolk, firm white: peels well, for salads and ramen.
Lower the eggs into water that is already boiling, start the timer, then move them to ice water before peeling.
Pick the doneness, your egg size and whether the eggs come straight from the fridge: the time shows up, and the timer rings when they are ready. Times start from water that is already boiling, at sea level.
A jumbo egg needs more time than a medium one, and a cold egg about a minute more than one at room temperature.
Questions
How long to boil a jammy egg?
6 min 30 s for a large egg straight from the fridge, lowered into boiling water, then into ice water. 5 min 30 s at room temperature.
How long to hard-boil an egg?
